All aboard, Weirdos!
It's time to have an adventure! Lauren and Ashley are traveling the world to find Earth's STRANGEST places!! This episode is extra exciting because we actually discover the REAL FUN ZONE!! And you won't believe where we found it....
Lauren is going to be taking us to several of the strangest towns in the world including a city full of amputees, a community run entirely by women, a town where it's ILLEGAL to DIE, and a burning man-esque desert wasteland that's heaven on Earth to it's residents.
Ashley is taking us to the Chihuahuan desert in Mexico as we explore a place where radio signals don't exist, compasses spin out of control and big fat meteors drop out of the sky at an inordinate rate.
Grab your fanny pack, make sure you have plenty of sunscreen and hop in!
Welcome to The Fun Zone...
This week is a HELTER SKELTER episode and you know what that means!! Probably... Helter Skelters are where we give you all of our juiciest scraps. We have stories we want to tell that don't quite fit into anything we have coming up or were cut for time on a previous episode and this is where you will find them!
This week Lauren is telling us the heartbreaking story of Joyce Carol Vincent, a 38 year old woman who died in her apartment in London and went undiscovered for over two years. Then she lightens it up (sort of) with a fun new project that Russia is working on! Trust me, it's totally sane and safe.
Ashley is teaching us about the strange unsolved disappearance of Frederick Valentich in 1978. We listen to the final sound the black box of his Cessna 182L recorded and ask the question - did he crash into the ocean? Or was he taken by something from out of this world? Then we close the show with one of the most horrifying stories we've ever told as Ashley recounts the case of the Tri State Crematory in Noble, Georgia.
Hold on to your butts, this FUN zone gets pretty dark.
Warning: This episode contains foul language, graphic descriptions of death and body decomposition, and mentions of murder and suicide.
Theres no business like show business, weirdos!
Welcome to part two of our latest HOLLYWEIRD series and this week we're getting pretty dark. We're going down the loneliest alleyways, the emptiest movie studios, and the seediest night clubs to talk about MURDER.
Ashley and Lauren are once again joined by their great friend Mike Johnston as they research three cases that seem cut and dry... only to learn the truth was much more sinister.
Lauren brings us the story of William Desmond Taylor whose life and death were the final straw to push Hollywood into forced wholesomeness. Then as a bonus she also brings us Thelma Todd, a young starlet suicide much like so many others.... or was it?
And Ashley is teaching us about the strange disappearance of Jean Spangler in 1949 and the list of suspects that includes one of Hollywood's most infamous madmen.
Enjoy this extra long episode that does include foul language, graphic descriptions of murder and discussions of suicide, incest, and sexual abuse.
Lights, Camera, Action, Weirdos!
Celebrities.... they're just like us! They buy groceries, they brush their hair, they go to the eye doctor and yes they even have PARANORMAL EXPERIENCES!!
Welcome to our return to HOLLYWEIRD! This week we are telling some extra spooky and strange celebrity ghost stories! And we have our first guest of the season - all the way from NYC (and season one of our show) Mike Johnston is here!!
Mike shares stories from some of his favorite child stars- Tracey Gold from Growing Pains has a run in with a new soul, Corey Feldman from Stand By Me gets a shake down from a deceased family member, Joey Lawrence from Brotherly Love sleeps in a super haunted hotel, and Beverly Mitchell from 7th Heaven finds hell in an abandoned asylum.
Lauren tells us about the time comedian Margaret Cho had to rent a house that came with some nasty spirits and RuPaul's Drag Race star Miz Cracker shared a house with an entity that drove everyone there crazy!
And Ashley finishes off the episode with a story about Kurt Russell and his famous forgotten close encounter!
WARNING: This episode is seriously not as dark as the warning suggests BUT does contain MENTIONS of child sexual abuse, asylum abuse, abortion, suicide, and murder. There is also MUSIC and SOUND EFFECTS that may cause a level of unease or discomfort for sensitive ears.
Fancy seeing you here, Weirdos!
Welcome to part two of COINCIDENCES! Last week we told you a collection of stories that people had about their own crazy coincidences and a couple of our own personal experiences. This week we're getting down to business. Are coincidences real?
We take a lot of sides in this one, trying to come at the material from different points of view. Lauren starts us off by discussing a skeptical POV- we look at the math and probability of coincidences occurring and what it takes to determine if it was special or not. Then we discuss the contradictions involved in fate and free will-- if our lives are predestined, if every decision we make was already decided by 'God' then... how can we have free will?
Then Ashley comes in with a very popular theory called SYNCHRONICITY. Are coincidences winks from the universe telling you you're on the right path? Can the signs be positive and negative? How do we start to experience more of them? And finally, is there any science behind these winks? Behind good and bad vibes?
WHEW this episode is conversation heavy so put on your thinking cap and get ready to open your mind!
WARNING: This episode contains foul language and discussions about death and religion.
