Are you afraid of the dark, weirdos?

Continuing our very spooky Halloween episodes this week we are bringing you an episode about all the things that lurk in the dark corners of the world... or do they?

Lauren is going to be teaching us about the fear of the dark (Nyctophobia) and even the fear of doors (Entamaphobia) Is this a leftover anxiety from our evolution?  Or is there something really there?

Ashley is going to talk about the thing that could be there... hush, hush, hush... here comes the bogeyman.  A creature that's been haunting us since the beginning of time.  How does he evolve every century?  How does he look different depending on who is looking at him?  And what will he look like when you see him?

Grab your nightlight, tuck yourself in and get ready for a submission for the Midnight Society

Hi Weirdos!  What an excellent day for an exorcism.

Welcome to Week two of our horror movie series!  Last week we talked about matters of the flesh--- slicing dicing (and even biting) with slashers and zombies.

This week Ashley is starting us off with a discussion on movie MONSTERS.  Monster movies are filled with allegories and metaphors; so from Cujo to the Babadook- we're going to be discussing the movies AND the creatures and how they mirrored our deepest darkest fears.

Lauren takes us home with one of her favorite genres- DEMONS! The world often has an intense (and sometimes even severe) reaction to movies about demonic possession and that you may know.  What you might not is that a lot of these movies represent real horrors happening in our world that do not have to do with heaven and hell.

So grab your crucifix and get ready to RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!

Lights, Camera, Action Weirdos!!

Welcome to your first OCTOBER 2020 EPISODE!! It's our favorite month of the year and we're starting out with a bang.  This week Lauren and Ashley are taking a deeper look at horror movies.

On the surface it may seem like it's just a bunch of flesh and blood; but when you look a little closer there might be a whole new movie waiting for you.

Lauren is going to start us off with SLASHERS.  From Halloween to Scream; Slashers have been cautionary tales, they've empowered women, pissed off Christians, and they're totally freaking fun.

Ashley is bringing us into the world of George Romero and talking about ZOMBIES.  From Night of the Living Dead to 28 Days Later; Zombies have been allegories for society, they've mirrored our own fear of death and disease, and serve as a warning for the future if we don't see the error of our ways.

This episode references several horror movies but doesn't give away major spoilers (That aren't well known)  Psycho, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Candyman, Scream, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, The Walking Dead

Tune in Next week for MONSTERS and DEMONS

You better WORK, Weirdos!

This week we're diving into the world of FASHION!  A topic that we know n o t h i n g about.  So this was a fun experience for us!

The fashion world, just like everything else in our lives, is full of WEIRDOS and high strangeness!  As Coco Chanel once said "In order to be irreplaceable we must always be different."

This week Ashley and Lauren are joined by a VERY special return guest; our good friend and one of your favorites TYLER SCHUELKE!

Ashley is going to be bringing you some fashion history including deadly garments and some of the craziest trends of all time.

Lauren is doing what she does best and bringing in some true crime stories that are almost too ridiculous to believe.

And Tyler is looking into the correlation between high fashion designers and suicides.  (TW: We discuss individual suicides as well as suicidal thoughts.  As usual if you or anyone you know is struggling, the National Suicide Hotline is 800-273-8255)

After you've listened to the episode, if you want to hear us embarrass ourselves, head over to our YOUTUBE channel and watch our latest video "Bad Fashion."

Prepare to be amazed, Weirdos!

We're heading back to the Big Top this week with another CIRCUS episode!

This week we're covering the darker side of the carnival and taking a closer look at some of our favorite side show performers throughout history.

Ashley is being a real bummer and teaching us about the Hartford Circus fire, the Flying Wallenda family deaths, and the tragic stories of Tyke the Elephant and Massarti the lion tamer.

Lauren is introducing us to several wonderful sideshow performers.

Simon Metz aka Schlitzie the pinhead.

Change and Eng the conjoined twins who founded the (not so PC) nickname "Siamese Twins"

Francesco Lentini who had three legs (and TWO of you know what)

Johnny Eck who was an amazing and talented man that just so happened to only have a torso!

Mary Anne Bevans, the unfairly titled "Ugliest Woman"

& Lauren's true love Joseph "John" Merrick who is famously known as The Elephant Man.

We'll also be trying to teach each other how to whistle and covering some CIRCUS SUPERSTITIONS and LINGO to break up some of the morbid stories.

WARNING: This Episode contains discussions of animal abuse and differently abled persons.

Come one, come all!  Step right up, Weirdos!

We're going to the CIRCUS!! Yay!  But also YIKES because the circus is crazy effed up.

This will be a two part episode and part one is focusing on the history of the circus and the sideshow (also known as the freakshow.)

Today we'll be answering questions like: Where did this all start? Why are they in tents?  Who was the greatest showman on earth, I mean really? How far will our fascination for the human body reach? Who were the freaks and should we really call them that?

This episode is fairly light but next week we will be getting into the darker side of the circus and sideshow as we explore the performers, tragedies, and abuse within this famous past-time.

Ouch, Weirdos!

Welcome to week two of our Body Modification discussion!! Last week we took you through the history of tattoos, piercings, and plastic surgery and touched on some other, dare I say WEIRDER forms of body modification.

This week we're going a little bit deeper.  This week we are discussing the psychology behind body modification.  What is an unhealthy relationship with plastic surgery?  Why are we so unhappy with our bodies and is that a new thing?  How important is therapy when seeking major body modification?  Are tattoos *actually* addictive?  Can body piercings be used to deal with past trauma and abuse?  We answer all of these questions and more!

Warning: We do get personal in this episode in discussing body image, body dysmorphia, and eating disorders.

Please remember to love yourselves and each other!

Nip/Tuck Weirdos!

Ashley and Lauren here with another incredibly weird episode!  This week is a squirmy worm, let me tell you!  We really wanted to do a deep dive into body modification: the different forms and methods as well as where it all started.

Today Ashley is covering the history of tattoos and piercings - everything from the oldest mummy we have on record to the first Playboy Playmate with a visible tattoo!  We're going to cover all types of body modification including tongue splitting, suspension piercings, subdermal implants, eyeball tattoos, and even the future of body modification in the form of biohacking.

Lauren is going to teach us the history of plastic surgery.  From the ancient Romans to the Real Housewives we'll learn all about skin grafts, breast implants, botox, facelifts, liposuction, and more!

WARNING: Obviously we're going to talk about some things that might make your toes curl-- but please know that we have definitely toned down the grossness so that everyone can learn and enjoy!  Even the squeamish.

Aug 14, 2020

(Looks over both shoulders & whispers) Hey weirdos,

(still whispering) this week we've got another batch of conspiracy theories to talk about and we're going to tinseltown to do so!

Celebrities are no stranger to rumors and gossip, and some of them have the pleasure of being involved in a full-fledged conspiracy!  This week Lauren is going to be telling us about how Britney Spears DEFINITELY DIDN'T work as an operative for the Bush administration (wink wink) and Ashley is focusing on Beyoncé and getting deep into the Illuminati and discussing where this conspiracy came from, how the internet poured some gas on it, and why celebrities are the perfect targets.

So cover your computers camera lens, keep your ear to the ground, and join us for another dose of paranoia.

Surprise Weirdos!

It's been 1 year and 9 months since we last dove into one of your FAVORITE topics and we figured... it was time.

This week we are discussing CONSPIRACY THEORIES!! Ashley is joined by Handsome Joe as they discuss multiple facets of modern conspiracies and showing you that, in fact, they've been around longer than you think.

Ashley is going to be focusing on the Anti-Vaccine movement and the history of Vaccine Hesitancy while sharing facts and debunking the most famous myths.

Joe is not only bringing a psychological profile of the type of person who gets sucked into conspiracy theories but he's also going to be teaching us WHY conspiracies seem to be running rampant in the world today.

As usual with these bad boys: WARNING: This episode contains discussions involving politics and can be stress inducing.

Hallelujah, Weirdos!

It's part two of our discussion on PROPHECIES!! Last week Lauren taught us all about Nostradamus his many predictions.  This week Ashley is tackling BIBLICAL prophecies!

But before we even get into those-- we have to take a look at the good book.  When was the bible written?  Who wrote it?  How many translations are there?  Where did those new verses come from?  Who the heck put that parable in there? So that we can answer questions like "are the prophecies legit or did they cheat?", "Why do Conservatives hate gay people", "Are we experiencing the end-times?", and so much more!

WARNING: This episode contains discussions about religion.  All information within was provided by theological historians and language experts.  If you want more information, please visit our Facebook Group to find provided links!

Yaass, predict that future boiiii.

This week is all about prophecies, baby!  Some people are downright FAMOUS just for knowing the future and some prophecies just don't hold up to scrutiny.

This week is part one of our prophecies discussion and Lauren is teaching us all about a totally normal dude named Nostradamus.  JUST KIDDING he's mega famous and he sold drug lozenges and he saw the future.

We'll learn about his life, his career, his struggles, and obviously his predictions and which ones seem to have come true!

Hi Weirdos!  Are you ready to get scared?  Are you ready to CRY?!

Welcome to another week of Listener Ghost Stories where Ashley and Lauren sit down and tell each other the creepiest, scariest, weirdest, most touching real life scary stories that we can find!  Whether you're sending them in or we're making new friends on the internet-- the world is FULL of the strange and unusual.

This weeks stories feature ghosts who can drive, ghosts who can text, ghosts who need haircuts, creatures in rivers, glitches in the matrix, and more!

Please donate to the Black Lives Matter Movement- there is a link in our Instagram and Twitter bios!  The world deserves justice for the men and women who are effected by police brutality.  The men and women who are disproportionally Black or BIPOC.  This country needs a change- a change that will be good for all of us!  We are not safe until everyone is safe.

Paranormal Investigation

Suit up, Weirdos!  This week we've got a little treat for you!  Ashley took Joe on his very first paranormal investigation! And she didn't even have to bribe him!

Ashley and Joe have lived in the same apartment for over four years and have separately as well as simultaneously witnessed strange activity.  Electrical anomalies, shadows creeping on the walls, closet creatures, couch ladies, sickening smells, and yes- even physical touch!

So since we're stuck at home anyway we figure this is the PERFECT time to investigate our very own haunted apartment!

As usual, we play several clips from the investigation that are best heard through headphones so snag a pair of those if you want to get a real close listen.

Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na BLACK KNIGHT!

Welcome to another week of ALIEN ABDUCTIONS!

This week the girls are bringing you two absolutely crazy alien abduction stories: Lauren's takes place in Pascagoula Mississippi and involves two coworkers, Charles Hickson & Calvin Parker, and a fishing trip gone wrong.  Ashley's takes place in the UK and involves the disappearance of a man named Zigmund Adamski.

We discuss the problems (or lack thereof) of people with paranormal and supernatural stories booking interviews and writing books and we fight back by putting a REVERSE CURSE on Philip J Klass.

And sweet Lauren throws in a little extraterrestrial reconnaissance conspiracy theory as a treat...

May 15, 2020

Ack Ack, Weirdos!

Welcome to another week of EXTRATERRESTRIALS!  This week Lauren is back and we recorded a TWO PART episode all about Alien Abductions!

This week the girls are bringing you information from psychologists and physicians who have treated people who claim to have been abducted by aliens as we break down the phases of an abduction, Lauren is teaching us all about the Travis Walton UFO Incident which inspired the movie Fire in the Sky and Ashley comes to terms with the aftermath of her own close encounter thirteen years ago...

May 8, 2020

We come in peace, weirdos!

This week marks the first time we get to have an alien episode since Season One!! And boy are we excited.

This week Ashley gets to sit down with the handsomest of Joes to chat about UFOs, aliens, and close encounters!  Have you ever heard someone say, "If aliens were real, someone would have come forward by now."  Well, you're in luck because "someone" has.

Joe is going to be bringing us a handful of first hand stories from credible sources who claim that they have had experience with extraterrestrials or government entities who work directly with extraterrestrials!

Ashley is bringing a very cool theory posted by reddit user BRADYLA_YouTube and a creepy real life story from reddit user ObedientUwU

Hiya Weirdos!

Welcome to another edition of HELTER SKELTER!!

Obviously most people think of ol' Charlie Manson when they hear Helter Skelter but the actual definition of Helter Skelter is "in disorderly haste or confusion."  Basically these eps go ALL OVER the place as we discuss topics sent in by listeners that don't quite fit into themed episodes.

This week Ashley is going to be talking about the phenomenon of ghost lights as well as introverts and extroverts and the science behind them-- is it all in your head? Well... yes and no.

Lauren is bringing us the REAL story of a Russian serial killer who also happened to be a magician and she'll be explaining infrasound and the effects it has on us.

Apr 24, 2020

Ohh, Saints Preserve Us, Weirdos!

We're back in Ireland.... and Greece.  Welcome to Part Two of MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURES!!

This week Lauren is going to be bringing us a tale of deception and betrayal.  The legend of LAMIA; the origin of the condemned woman, the scorned woman, the women who were purposefully omitted.

Ashley is taking you back to Ireland where we go in search of FAERIES!! While we're there keep off the fairy paths and keep an eye out for those tricky changelings...

Consider ye be warned: Lauren tells so many lies in this episode.  Lauren briefly mentions the movie Stardust and then LIES ABOUT IT.  She gets everything wrong-- seriously, everything.  Even at the end of the episode when she corrects herself-- she corrects herself incorrectly.  So we just want YOU to know that WE know that everything we said is untrue.  So try not to pull out all your hair while listening.

Apr 17, 2020

Hi Weirdos!

Are you ready for a magical journey through time?!  This week Lauren and Ashley are heading to Ancient Greece and the olden times of Ireland in search of MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURES!!

This is Part One of our two part Mythological creatures episode and we're covering the saucy sirens of Greek mythology, the shrieking banshees of Irish lore, and a brief history of merpeople!

Next week we're on to the legends of Lamia and we're learning all about fairies!!

Disclaimer-- we had some serious audio problems this week and for that we sincerely apologize if it's distracting!  We're still working out some kinks as we work together (apart) through isolation but hopefully our next recording will be smoother!

Apr 10, 2020

Hold on, Weirdos.  This episode is intense.

But I do have some good news... LAURENS BACK!! This week Ashley and Lauren are going to be sharing some crazy UNSOLVED MURDERS.

Ashley is bringing you the mysterious YOGTZE Fall Case which occurred in Germany in 1984 as well as the death of LaVena Johnson which took place in Missouri/Iraq in 2005.  Lauren is sharing the strange disappearance and murder of Dorothy Jane Scott that took place in California in 1980 as well as the case known as the "Yogurt Shop Murders" which occurred in Austin in 1991.

This is definitely one of the more disturbing episodes that we have recorded and contains some of the hardest cases we've researched to date.  But with that said, the reason these extremely difficult cases were presented is because of how important they are to be remembered.

Warning:This episode contains graphic descriptions of murders along with mentions of rape and murder
